Decision guide
This guide answers “which path?” for evaluators and new operators. It explicitly marks what to ignore on day one.
Start here (ignore the rest until you need it)
Section titled “Start here (ignore the rest until you need it)”| Your job | Start with | Ignore for now |
|---|---|---|
| Fix one bug or small feature | Quickstart → Common Workflows | Mesh, stigmergy, teams, choreography |
| Daily interactive coding | TUI + Session modes | Arena, shadow evals, fleet metabolism |
| CI or cron automation | Automation + Sandbox | Multi-agent, workstreams |
| Editor integration | MCP Server or Zed | Agent mesh, A2A |
| Compare models on one prompt | Arena | Quality orchestration fan-out |
| Parallel agents in one process | Multi-Agent Workflows + workspace claims | Stigmergic delivery (research preview) |
| Remote peer by capability | Agent Mesh + A2A | Teams (local coordination first) |
| Review before merge | Review before merge | Shadow evals |

Surface picker
Section titled “Surface picker”| Surface | When | Risk note |
|---|---|---|
bmo (TUI) | Interactive work, approvals, discovery | Tool policy and grants determine prompts |
bmo run | One-shot, scripts, CI | Requests needing interactive approval require an approval listener |
bmo service start http|mcp|autopilot | Long-lived integration | Configure service-specific auth and binding; see HTTP server |
bmo acp | ACP consumers | Same core, surface-specific policy UX |
| A2A HTTP | Peer agents | Remote trust expansion |
Feature depth ladder
Section titled “Feature depth ladder”- Daily-use — TUI,
bmo run, file tools, patch proposals, session modes, staged workflow (optional). - Advanced — automation, sandbox, multi-agent, phase model, operating packs.
- Advanced (research preview on feature page) — Stigmergic delivery.
- Eval-only — shadow evals, session-mode autoselect eval (measurement, not authority).
Full label definitions: Limitations and maturity map.
